Updated 7/11/08! Pictures of Riders Without Helmets

Does anyone else besides me find it irresponsible of Board Generation to show riders without helmets on thier web site?

It kind of makes their "mountainboarding is a dangerous sport so we recommend wearing full protection" disclaimer a lie.  How can a web site claim to recommend wearing armor and then show pictures of their rider members not wearing helmets?

Throughout the history of the sport the question has continued to be asked, "should we or should we not be like skatebording"?   "Like skateboarding" refers to the Big Skateboarding industries' promotion of punk attitudes and rebellion for no reason other than to cultivate a market of shoe buyers.

I think it is irresponsible to for a company, magazine (as if) or web site to show riders riding without helmets.

I call for Board Generation to take the lead and not accept photos of riders riding without full armour.

DaddyYo,

Smoking crack and riding naked while doing backflips? Ok, we'll consider taking it down.

Not wearing helmets? Ha!

Sincerely Yours

The Board Gen Administror revised my response to this topic.  I deleted that revised response.

My original response can bee seen quoted below.

On the other hand, your vote for Bush resulted in hundreds of soldiers getting killed in Irak. Kinda makes all this bullshit about helmets sound irrelevant, don't you think ?

My God, that has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

First of all it is Iraq - not Irak.  Secondly, my vote for President Bush resulted in no one's death.  The soliders killed in Iraq were killed by terrorists.  The soldiers in Iraq also saved the lives of many people who would have been raped and tortured by Sadam.  They also freed a nation and helped establish a democracy in a country that hasn't changed since the 16th century.

You are an small town third-world idiot who knows nothing about American or international politics.

I supposed, as a Frenchman, you prefer the rape and torture of innocent people over the sacrifices that have to be made for freedom.  Your country's national cowardice was evident.

You would rather see people tortured and killed rather than divert your attention from your stinky cheese and even more stinky women.

Do what you want.   You are the one that has to live with the responsibility of riders getting killed or injured just so they can look "rad" on your web page.

So, by your response, I assume that you encourage riders to risk injury by not weraing helmets?  Doesn't sound too funny to me.  You must have a lot of liability insurance.

Dear DaddyYo,

Please advise as to where on our website we encourage riders to risk injury. I can't seem to find the post that says "ride without a helmet, post your photo for radical bragging rights, and get hurt while doing it!".

YES! As a matter of fact, we have LOTS of liability insurance for all of those riders who get hurt on this website because they didn't wear a helmet. I actually wear a helment everytime I post a photo on the site, write back to mindless morons like you, etc.

Because of your completely awesome points that you make, we've just established a new feature on the site. It's called "Helmet Safety". Now everyone can go to you for questions and answers! Thanks for being so proactive about it!

PS - I did you the courtesy of parental-controlling your exposure to things on this site that you may find inappropriate (like people not wearing helmets). I hope this stops your bitching, thanks!

You encourage riders to ride without helmets by posting pictures of riders without helemts.  That's what I said and not the snide quote you posted above in an attempt to defend your indefensable position.

The type of liabilty insurance I was referring to is that which may be required when a rider cracks his skulls taking photographs of himself riding without a helemt for you to post on this site.  I think a parent would have a case if the kid was a memeber of this web site and testfied in court that he wanted to have his picture posted here.

I would be glad to answer any question about helmet safety.  Especially since you seem more concerned about attacking me for suggesting riders be safe than using your influenece to suggest they wear helmets and posting photographs of riders without helmets.

It is typical of you and most mountainboard forum owners to consider any comment as bitching.  As usual, and in this case, your response is obviously the result of embarassment that you were too selfish, ignorant of the results or too concerned about your "rad" reputation to do what is right for the rider's safety.

This case reminds me of the competition where a woman rider was egged on by other riders to do a trick she was not skilled enough to execute.  She ended up with a broken back.  Everyone else just keeps on riding and she has a life altering injury.

But so what.  Just like you, they get to keep on riding and her injury had no effect on them so why should they care?

You can restict my access to the photographs you have posted of riders without helmets (you forgot about the one on the front page of this site) but it won't change the fact that you do it and you will be responsible when some kid splits their melon.

But, so what.  It won't effect you in any way so why should you care?

Were you the model for the dickhead mountainboard shop owner in "Johnny Kapahala - Back on Board"?
